Abstract
This study was performed to examine the characteristics of fluoride release from fluoride-releasing restorative materials after toothbrushing with toothpaste containing fluoride. Five commercially available fluoride releasing restorative materials (Fuji ¥± LC Improved: FL, Compoglass F: CF, Dyract¨Þ AP: DA, F2000: FT, and Gradia Direct: GD) were selected as experimental materials. Disk-shaped specimens were fabricated in the split teflon mold with diameter of 15 §® and thickness of 1 §®. After light curing for an hour, specimens were immersed in deionized water at 37¡¾1 ¡É for 24 months. Toothbrushing was done using a fluoride toothpaste (Median forest, Amorepacific Co, Korea). The amount of fluoride release were decreased in descending order as following: resin-modified glass ionomer, compomer and fluoride releasing composite. The release amount of fluoride ions were not varied by repeating toothbrushing. The large burst of fluoride releasing was measured in FL, CF, and DA groups at initial stage, and then releasing amount of fluoride was decreased continuously. However, initial burst of fluoride resleasing was not found in FT and GD groups and its amount was a little and constant with the time.
